Collector’s Edition: 1995 Ferrari F50 Kit Fiero

The Pontiac Fiero has been the source of many car kit inspirations. While most are definitely on the side of “What were you thinking?”  But some are true masterpieces. This is one of the latter.

Enter this Ferrari F50, via a Pontiac Fiero – The kit does look good enough from less than 6ft to fool anyone, and it looks the part.

The Ferrari F50, launched in 1995 was a naturally aspirated 4.7-liter V12 engine derived from Ferrari’s Formula 1 technology, delivering a mind-boggling 513 horsepower and 347 lb-ft of torque. The powerplant was paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, ensuring a pure and engaging driving experience. With a top speed of 202 mph (325 km/h) and a 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 km/h) time of just 3.7 seconds, the F50 was an absolute powerhouse on the road.

However, underneath all of this, there is nothing but a 1985 Pontiac Fiero V6, and the interior gives the game away, right away. It is also is an automatic, but I guess that’s a good thing, as I’d imagine the body kit, made of fiberglass adds another 400lbs to the Fiero

No matter, even if you put the car side to side, your eye would be convinced it is the real thing.

For $23,000, the dollar to fun attention seeking ratio would be off the charts. I’m not gonna lie and confess if I had $20K to throw away, I would go for it. The car is in Carmel-by-the-sea, the town that hosts the Monterey Car Week and next door to Pebble Beach Concours – And as long as you cover the windshield and tint your windows, your Cars & Coffee attendance would definitely get some likes. What say you? Ready to live the Ferrari style on a Pontiac Fiero budget?
