That’s All Folks – We bid Goodbye To The Caradise On Our 1 Year Anniversary

Goodbyes are never easy, specially when there isn’t anyone to really receive them at the other end.

After 12 months and lots of fun, we lived auto blog live to the fullest and cheapest, We did 2 car projects, saved some people from getting scammed, found cheap cars, Featured some great #weirdcartwitter folks before the great Twitter implosion, shared some sad craigslist stories and also some shared some great deals on rare cars.

However, like some tragic character, we were born to die, from the day we were born. I’ll explain:

This joke of an automotive blog gestated on the absolute worst place to do it, a GoDaddy blog platform. When we finally moved to a real WordPress news template, I hired a contractor to help move the first 3 months of content.

However, somehow in the migration process the contractor created a bunch of redirect links on the original set of articles and the main domain, therefore wrecking our SEO chances from that moment on. Took me a few months to realize that because of that issue, Google hadn’t crawled a great number of articles and the main page kept getting back and forth crawled and rejected. This matters, as news aggregators would not pick our stuff, no matter what I did. I spent time I didnt have trying to fix it myself. Deleting content didnt quite help either.

After looking at that for a few weeks and not making progress, I’ve asked a few developers and SEO people, but the cost of a proper fix that would save the content is not within our means. We could keep adding content, that’s never been a problem, but the fact is it is useless if not found beyond Twitter and Facebook.

Anyway, it’s been fun and thanks to our half dozen people that would show up here regularly. You know who you are. Thanks and we now ride into the sunset, radio blasting, 7,000 RPM in third gear!
