Sad Craigslist Story: The 2011 Nissan Murano and The Deer

Oh Dear! Looks like the villain of the story here is Prancer, or Dancer, or Plisken or maybe Rudolph? The sad encounter however has had consequences on today’s Sad Craigslist Story featuring a 2011 Nissan Murano

Looks like the encounter caused some high mileage and transmission failure, along with a pesky Oxygen Code that wont go away. Maybe the ghost of the deer has not found peace yet. The Murano is closing on 260,000 miles.

Otherwise it presents straight solid clean and in decent condition in the SF Bay area CL, near Pleasanton, CA. The interior looks a bit bizarre, with some fake wood from a 1989 Jaguar paneling in the center console, looking incongruously to the rest of the modern Nissan dashboard.

Our seller does come clean on needs:

1.Transmission went into limp mode. Was quoted $550 for replacement of step motor. Vehicle no longer in limp mode but transmission still sluggish.

2. Engine code for 02 sensor. We changed the sensor, the code clears but after a few weeks it comes back. Shop said O2 sensor may need to be flashed for California emission settings and a shop would have to do that. Vehicle won’t smog until that’s cleared.

3. Rear, driver side door will need an actuator lock soon. Door locks and unlocks as it should, but the actuator buzzes louder than usual.

4. Needs reservoir for windshield wiper fluid inspected/repaired or replaced. When the deer hit it, the washer fluid leaked out. We are unsure if its broken or just disconnected.

5. Occasionally the light for traction control will come on. Shop said it was from the deer hitting it and a sensor of some sort may need to be replaced.

Anyway, seller is asking $3,500 for you to take it off their hands
