Sad Craigslist Story: 2011 Kia Forte Koup

Our sad story for today is a decades old small coupe from Kia, trying to compete with the Civic with this 2011 Kia Forte Koup. However, this came of a bad batch of Kia engines engulfed in many recalls.

Today’s Seller already warns us there could be ‘timing belt and/or valve issues. So we know this may be a serious case.

It came with a choice of two engines: a 2.0-liter inline-four producing 156 horsepower and a more potent 2.4-liter inline-four generating 173 horsepower. We don’t know which one it is, Both engines could be paired with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. The Koup featured a sporty design, comfortable interior, and a decent list of standard features, including Bluetooth connectivity, satellite radio, and a USB port.

However, the 2011 Kia Koup had its fair share of recalls related to engine issues. One of the most notable recalls involved an engine stalling problem caused by a defective transmission fluid cooling hose. Another recall addressed a potential issue with the engine’s crankshaft pulley, which could separate and cause loss of power steering. Additionally, there were recalls related to engine control modules and hydraulic control units that could affect the vehicle’s performance and safety.

Most recent complaints is a ‘ticking’ engine which usually spells certain doom for the engine.

This one is for sale in San Jose, CA with a 186K miles and wants a very optimistic $2,500 – Not sure if its gonna sell at that price.
