Sad Craigslist Story: 2013 Chevy Cruze

Some cars are, due to many unfortunate circumstances, more prone to have a catastrophic failure than others. This is one of those stories.

Our sad story for today is this 2013 Chevy Cruze Turbo. At first glance, everything looks fine. Except the fact this little car has no compression in one of its cylinders.

Under the hood, the 2013 Cruze typically came with two engine options. The base engine was a 1.8-liter four-cylinder producing 138 horsepower, while the more popular and fuel-efficient choice was the 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 138 horsepower as well.

However, the Chevrolet Cruze was not without its issues, particularly related to engine failures. One common problem was the failure of the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) system, which could lead to oil leaks and even engine fires in extreme cases. Additionally, some Cruze owners reported issues with the turbocharger, including failure and a notable reduction in power. These engine-related problems could be costly to repair and, in some cases, required engine replacement.

This one seems to have a broken valve, and likely require a new engine. The seller is asking $2,500 which seems a very high start point for what is essentially a project car. For sale in Livermore, CA
