It’s the Most Wonderful Time of Year…Very Soon! Monterey Car Week

Shhh, you hear that? That’s the sound of very rare and extremely expensive engines over 100, 80, 60 years old. Yes, is that time of the season, the temperatures cool down, the trees will soon start changing colors, is mid August and that means Monterey Car Week is coming again!

In a couple of weekends, the streets of the Bay Area, and specially Monterey, Carmel and Pebble Beach will soon be full of wonderful, exquisite, eye-watering automobiles of many ages. The climax of this orgasmic automotive orgy will be Sunday at Pebble Beach Concourse, where these cars will have to run under their own power, at the crack of dawn, to the delight of 100’s of millionaires and billionaires and a few poor bystanders like me.

You probably have seen a lot of these cars, standing still, but hearing their engines roar, smelling those exhaust fumes from yesteryear and seeing them move is a great experience for any car lover.

Here are a few of the cars that were a complete delight to see at Pebble Beach during Dawn Patrol (the peasant version that I attend) and this year Monterey County has gotten savvy, and will have a ‘cheap’ alternative car show at the Monterey Fairgrounds, so you don’t have to spend $575-$4,000 per ticket at Pebble Beach to attend, instead the fairground prices will be $300-$150 tickets.

If you think the economy is bad, let me tell you the ‘cheap’ $575 tickets are *still* available at Pebble Beach, but the most expensive ones from $1,000-$4,000 each are SOLD OUT

Even just visiting the parking lot of the event, and the cheapskates that park their $1MM Lotuses and Lambos alongside the roads, will be full of mind-blowing cars. Also just hanging at Carmel for the weekend (if you can find parking) is quite an experience. Come proper and leave the Toyota Corolla at home.

Here are a few of the cars that we saw last year, enjoy!
