Joyride Pick Of the Day: 1997 Chrysler Sebring with 76K miles

Today’s selection takes us back well over two decades ago. Back to the late 90’s where Chrysler would still want to have a powerful two door personal coupe to promote and sell, even if it needed Mitsubishi to do it.

This wonderful 1997 Chrysler Sebring looks to be in great shape. Runs, drives and has keys! For a Joyride selection, this is the magic trifecta. And we have it here. The car seems is great shape as well. Looks like someone took care of it until passing away. Body is straight and clean. The interior looks cleaner than some of my own cars at the moment.

The 1997 Chrysler Sebring was somewhat popular during its time for its sleek design and comfortable ride. This car comes with a 2.5-liter V6 engine that generates 168 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque. It has a four-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. The Sebring has a comfortable interior with supportive seats and ample legroom for both front and rear passengers. This one comes with Leather seats. This is the ‘top of the line’ Sebring LXI model.

In terms of safety, the 1997 Sebring had dual front airbags, anti-lock brakes, and a theft deterrent system. It also has a five-star rating for driver and front passenger protection in frontal crash tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation played a significant role in helping Chrysler in the late 90s with vehicles for sale. Chrysler and Mitsubishi had a joint partnership, which resulted in the production of several cars that were sold under both brands. One such car was the Sebring, which shared its platform and engines with the Mitsubishi Galant and Eclipse of that era.

The Sebring’s design and engineering were heavily influenced by Mitsubishi, which was evident in the car’s performance and handling. In fact, the Sebring’s engine was developed by Mitsubishi and used in several other vehicles, including the Mitsubishi Eclipse. None of the ‘Sebring Coupe’ was shared with the Sebring Sedan that would come a couple of years later.

Currently, This 1997 Chrysler Sebring is for sale at Joyride, in San Jose, CA and at time of publication it was already at $800 at the Joyride auctions. I predict that an easy $3000-$4000 will take this car home.
